Tiger Woods plays in the opening tournament
Tiger Woods will return to the PGA Tour at the AT&T National, where he is host of the new tournament that will be played from July 5th to the 8th at Congressional Country Club outside Washington.
Woods joins Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to host a PGA Tour event. During this week Tiger did not participate in the Buick Open where he was the defending champion.
The AT&T National tournament came quickly as the fourth of July week on the schedule became vacant when the International canceled its tournament in Colorado; this will certainly benefit Woods' Foundation. The tournament fields three of the top four players in the world, with Jim Furyk (No. 3) and Adam Scott (No. 4).
As a separate note, Woods became a father the day after the U.S. Open at Oakmont, where he made only one birdie over the final 32 holes and finished one shot behind Angel Cabrera.
